“The Lord went ahead of [the Israelites]. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire.” Exodus 13:21

My dear girls,

Have you ever felt that, in life, you are unsure of the path before you and it feels as if you are walking through a fog?

Moses was leading God’s people through the wilderness, knowing only that they were supposed to follow the cloud and fire pillars. (Granted the cloud probably gave shade during the day and the pillar of fire provided warmth at night for the mammoth crowd, these two entities served primarily as road signs in the desert).

I know, for sure, that I have felt like I was walking in a cloud; my surroundings were unfamliar and i wasn’t holding the map. And so, since I don’t know where else to go, I just keep moving…forward.

Now, as I look back, I can see that this fog was not really a cloud of confusion, but rather a pillar that declares, “Press on!”

Pray with me, “Dear Lord, thank you for this revelation. It is comforting to realize that not all clouds are bad; some are an indication that we are walking in Your way and not just wandering aimlessly–although that too is exactly how the Israelites felt. Please give me the strength and patience to follow You. Amen.”

with love, Mom
